CVS

Today is the day for CVS procedure. Our appointment is at 8am sharp and we reached there 10 mins earlier. I'm not feeling tense but somehow relaxed.

I was brought to the scan room before the procedure to do a scan for baby first. The moment I saw baby from the monitor, baby was at a weird position which I couldn't figure where his head and body is till the sonographer told me. After looking at the screen for a while, then we saw baby in a "child pose" position which is similar to kneeling with head down like praying. In my heart, I was thinking if baby is praying for good luck before the procedure...lol. With this position, we can see the baby's spine which was not detected during the OSCAR scan.

Baby was very active, not long after he/she changed position again and back to normal lying down position. After looking at baby before the procedure, it actually help me relax a lot.

After the scan, we waited outside the procedure room for the doctor to arrive. Shortly, a clinician approached us to do a survey on a research study. We decided to go ahead with the research plus it doesn't need any extra samples from me except for my blood. In exchange for this research, I am given a free growth scan at week 28.

Not long after the talk and waiting outside the room, the doctor arrives. I was glad I was handled by the famous doctor who is Prof John Tee, an expert in CVS. I heard there is only a few doctor doing this procedure so they are very experienced. I was asked to lye on the bed and the doctor didn't even warn me before he poke a needle into my tummy, the pain is a bit unbearable but I have to control myself. The needle pain is actually from the tube for inserting anesthesia. Not long after he told me it's done, which means he has injected the anesthesia. I saw him carrying a big tube of needle which looks so scary, it seems like a catherer to suck out the tissues from placenta. Inside the bottle there is this pink liquid. He inserted the needle into the tube and keep on sucking out the tissue while viewing the monitor. While he is doing that, I saw baby's head beside the placenta moving about. He draw out two bottles of samples, one is for express result and the other one for the detail report. The after effect is very mild, so while I walk I must be very careful. The whole procedure is very fast like 5 mins only. That tells how expert Prof Tee is to finish in such a short time frame.

Right after I reached home, Dear was very caring. He asked me to lye down and rest while he do all the household chores at home. I know during this period, it is very hard on him. So I must reward him for what he has done for us.

After all, I hope baby is fine and gender is not important to me. Though the nurse told me that the result will be out within 3 days but I am still very eager to find out before the 3 days.

Really hope GOD grant me my wish for baby to be healthy and nothing is going to happen to baby.
